Otoplasty is a short, simple procedure used to correct the size and shape of the ears, or their angle with respect to the face. The most common modification is to correct so-called “protruding ears”. It is also possible to correct cup ears or deformations resulting from trauma.
WHY THIS PROCEDURE?
LProminent or protruding ears are the cause of major complexes, particularly among children and teenagers who are teased by their schoolmates, although this is also possible among adults.
Operations are only recommended after the age of 8 years as that is when the child’s ears have reached their definitive size, the cartilages are well formed and have acquired their greatest degree of consistency. Nevertheless is it a treatment that can be applied at all ages with fantastic results.
ANAESTHESIA
Local anaesthesia with sedation is habitually used so that the patient is totally relaxed and insensitive to pain. During the procedure, our anaesthesiologist will take care your safety and comfort at all times. Your health comes first.
DURATION OF THE OPERATION
Surgery time varies between 60 and 90 minutes. Otoplasty is usually performed as an ambulatory procedure (without admission to hospital).
RECOVERY
Patients usually return home in the first 2 hours after their operation. Most patients can return to their daily routine after 2 or 3 days.
RESULTS
The result of the operation is immediately noticeable and is permanent.
