Capillary micrografts are currently viewed as the only fast, effective and permanent solution against baldness.
The plastic surgeon will carryout a clinical assessment during the consultation to determine whether the patient is a good candidate for this treatment.
TECHNIQUES USED
The first step involves ing a strip of skin covered in hair from a part of the scalp that is “healthy” (donor site), in other words it has not been affected by hair loss (normally the back of the head). This is then divided into micrografts and these are subsequently implanted into the part of the scalp ing baldness or reduced hair density (recipient site). The donor site is closed using stitches that are perfectly hidden in the patient’s hair.
The hair transplant is done by our plastic surgeons in the operating room with the same safety measures as for any major surgery.
ANAESTHESIA
Local anaesthesia with sedation is habitually used in the capillary micrograft procedure so that the patient is totally relaxed and insensitive to pain. During the procedure, our anaesthesiologist will take care your safety and comfort at all times.
RECOVERY
The procedure is performed on an ambulatory basis, with the patient returning home in the first 2 hours. You will have to wear a bandage for the first 24 hours. During the days immediately after surgery, it will be necessary to follow the indications of your surgeon, such as not engaging in intense physical activity. The grafted area will have numerous small wounds that will form scabs that will fall away in 10 to 15 days’ time. In most cases, the stitches are removed 10 to 15 days after the procedure.
RESULTS
The success of a hair transplant is based on the correct indication by the surgeon and it is essential to have available a suitable donor site, i.e. an area with healthy hair. This process is a work of craftsmanship and the results to be seen after 3 or 4 months, when the new hair starts to grow. Once the new hair has grown in, it is possible to wash it, cut it and comb it without any problems. In addition, it will be more resistant that the original hair in the recipient site and will hardly be affected by natural hair loss in the years to come.
