Breast enlargement mammoplasty is a technique allowing the appearance of small, asymmetric or sagging breasts (ptosis) to be improved through the implantation of prostheses.
It is very important for a woman to like her own breasts, that is why this breast enlargement procedure is one of those most frequently performed in Spain and also in the rest of the world.
The lack of development in the breasts due to congenital reasons, or their shrinking after one or more pregnancies, or after a period of slimming, can be easily corrected with a simple surgical procedure.
Prostheses can basically be placed in two areas: either under the pectoral muscle or under the mammary gland. All the techniques are simple to perform and the one to be used depends on which is most suitable for the patient’s build and the type of correction to be achieved.
The incision made is always as small as possible. It is usually made at the lower edge of the areola. On other occasions, a small incision is made in the lower edge of the breast or the implant may also be ed through the underarm area.
Prostheses also vary in terms of their texture (smooth or ridged) and their shape and size (projection, diameter, different shapes, ...). These characteristics play a part in the final aesthetic result.
The final aesthetic outcome of a breast enlargement will depend on the surgical approach used, the placement plane, the type of prosthesis and, above all, on the correct indication made by an experienced plastic surgeon for your specific case.
Clínica Londres, in line with its policy of offering the highest quality and safety in all its treatments, uses high-end prostheses approved by the European health authorities or the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Procedures are usually performed on an ambulatory basis (i.e. you are not admitted to a hospital) and last for around 60 minutes.
The anaesthetic technique is usually general anaesthesia without intubation, which allows for comfortable surgery without the patient feeling any kind of pain and with a speedy and comfortable awakening. Recovery from the anaesthesia is very fast and patients usually return home within a few hours of their operation (3 4 h).
Patients can resume their daily activities after 3 or 4 days.
The incision is minimal and very discreet. When it is made on the edge of the areola, it becomes disguised by the folds inherent to the tissue and the colour changes in only a few months.
If the incision is made in the axilla or in the submammary sulcus, it is not so indistinguishable, but it is hidden by the axilla or sulcus. In addition, as the months go by, the scar will become less visible if its heals correctly.
The result of a breast enlargement operation is immediate and visible during surgery, so the patient’s silhouette is altered from the very moment the procedure is carried out.
Although this kind of operation has practically no side effects, there may be an occasional case when some kind of repercussion may ensue..
Breastfeeding of future children is not affected by any breast enlargement mammoplasty. Nor does it prevent you from having a mammography or the regular practice of sports.
