Lip Enhancement (Permalip®)

Clínica Londres can now make available to its patients the innovative PERMALIP permanent lip implant. This is a mouldable implant. The results obtained with the implant are lifelong although it would be possible to remove it if desired.

The characteristics of Permalip are:

1.- It is cylindrical in shape with spindle-like ends for a perfect placement in their chosen location.

2.- The smooth surface of the implant prevents the growth of tissue around it thus making it easier to remove, should this become necessary.

3.- The PERMALIP facial implant is ideal for increasing lip volume from both an aesthetic and reconstructive viewpoint.

4.- The disposable implants come in individual boxes sterilized with gamma rays.

5.- Permalip implants are designed with different diameters: 3, 4 and 5 mm) and different lengths (55, 60 and 65 mm).

6.- Various tests have confirmed their biocompatibility and therefore the safety of this treatment for patients.

7.- PERMALIP has been certified by the EU and is recognized by the FDA as a facial implant. In Spain, it has been notified to the Medicines Agency, an essential ment for it to be used on the Spanish market.

How is the implant put in place?

The procedure is carried out in the operating room using local anaesthesia. The physiognomy of the patient’s lip is studied and a decision is reached on the type of prosthesis to be ed. A 4 to 5 mm incision is made at each lip commissure and the prosthesis is ed. The commissures are then closed with reabsorbable sutures.

How will my lips look after the treatment?

Patients may suffer from inflammation and redness for up to two weeks after the procedure. In addition, there is a possibility of a change in sensation in the lip, albeit temporary, and also a potential for stiffness when the capsule is formed. Stretching exercises will relieve this potential stiffness.
